Sue Kanagawa Yuen

Project Manager

Sue grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii and currently resides in San Jose, CA where she runs Yuen Designs, a consulting practice focused on nimble innovation for nonprofits and small enterprise. Her services cover a wide range of topics, including fundraising, process improvement, organizational strategy, and team-building. A self-proclaimed “accidental techie,” she also assists organizations with databases, websites, low-cost branding, and graphic design. In San Jose Japantown, Sue has worked with the Japanese American Citizens League San Jose Chapter, redesigning the chapter’s communications strategy and launching projects such as the inaugural Pilgrimage to Manzanar. In her spare time, she teaches taiko (Japanese drumming) at the Mountain View Buddhist Temple and performs with the Mountain View-based Jun Daiko. For Sue, taiko is more than just a pastime; it is something deeply imbedded in her cultural identity as a Japanese American. Above all, taiko has been at the core of her social network and friendships for over 25 years.
